2022 July 4th Parade

Thank you to our entire team of TLWC walkers, banner carriers, decorators, drivers and helpers for the incredible showing at Monument's 4th of July Parade!

The float decorators were rained out twice the evening before the parade so they met early the morning of the parade to put the float together and decorate it.

Our parade float, decorated to “Honor our Educators” was a major success. Koko Pavich and Erin Contreras carried our banner into the cheering crowds. We had 14 members who handed out candy and 4 who rode on the float refilling candy bags.  We want to extend a HUGE thank you to our generous members who donated bags of candy. We used it all!

Also, a huge shout out to Gail Wittman, Mille Town and Ann Cook who were in charge of the “Lost Children” booth in downtown Monument.

Thousands of people enjoyed this amazing hometown parade, and we are so proud to have been part of this Monument tradition Many thanks to Linda Vernon, Charlie Ann Hayes, and Carol Gaskill for the hours they spent coordinating logistics and to Lori Forman for navigating our float safely through the parade. A big shout out to Randy Vernon, Fred Bjork and Donald Congdon whose assistance with our float was invaluable.

Caring in Action News

New Volunteer Opportunity!

The Town of Monument, with a generous donation from Classic Homes,  is throwing a party to raise funds for our Parks system!  We’re having a Party for the Parks Concert on Saturday, July 16 with food trucks, beer tent, and live music featuring Reckless Kelly, Kristen Foreman, Jesse Cornett and the Revolvers, Lendon James & Savanna Chestnut!

We need volunteers, age 16+ to help with set up, ticket sales, parking, trash, merchandise and tear down.  Shifts begin at 10 am and continue throughout the day until 10 pm.  Please join us by signing up here or sharing our email or posts about the event on social media.

Each volunteer gets a meal voucher and can attend the music festival before or after their shift for free.

Please let me know if I can answer any questions and we appreciate your support of this event and our Parks!

Caring in Action provides bag lunches for working homeless neighbors in need at the Springs Rescue Mission. Each month we make 40 to 50 lunches that include a sandwich, chips, fruit, drink, and sweet treat. We then deliver them to the mission to be given to those who are heading out to work.   For more information on how you can help, members can contact leaders Charlie Ann Hayes or Ann Cook.  Contact details are on the SOS/CIA Home Page

Monthly Luncheon/Business Meeting

The May Luncheon Business Meeting and Celebration was held at Wedgewood Event Center and a wonderful time was had by all.   No program was presented as we had much business to attend to!  The 2022-2023 slate of Executive Board Officers was voted on as well as the 2022 slate of Grantees.

Our next luncheon will be held in the third week of September.  More details will be sent out when we have a location, date and time locked in.    When you get your emailed invitation, you can register through it, through your App events tab, or through the Calendar Page on this website.

Email Cindy at admin@tlwc.net if you need assistance with putting the app on your phone or navigating through it.

You can now download an App for your phone which lets you access the key elements of your TLWC membership.  The App’s name is Wild Apricot for Members.  It is available on both the App Store for iPhones and the Play Store for Android.   After you open the app for the first time, you use your regular TLWC email and password to login

The app makes it super easy to find members’ phone numbers and email addresses (under Directory), see and edit your profile (under Profile), see what events are coming up (under Events), and what events you’re registered for (under Tickets).  You can easily register for an event or cancel in each event listing.  Additionally, the address for the event is clickable so it will go directly to your mapping app and lead you right where you want to go!

Food Drives

Our Spring Food Drive took place at the April Luncheon/Business Meeting.  Hundreds of pounds of much needed food items and cash donations were collect for Tri-Lakes Cares.   Thank you to our members for your generous donations!

We met our goal!!

A huge Thank You! to all of you who helped us with the contest. We very much appreciate your support     by entering your pets, voting, and telling others about the contest. It meant so much for our success.                 - Linda Vernon, Committee Chair
